Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Last updated August 7, 2026

California residents have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information. This page explains where we stand, and how to exercise that right.

You do not need an account with us, and you do not need to give a reason.

Do we sell or share your personal information?

Not by default, and not today.

Where we make data available to third parties for commercial purposes, we do so in de-identified form. De-identified information is not "personal information" under the CCPA, so those disclosures are not a sale or a share of your personal information.

When we make data available in de-identified form:

  • We apply reasonable measures to ensure it cannot be linked back to you, and we do not release data where those measures would not hold. Our scrubbing and anonymisation process explains how this works.
  • We publicly commit to maintain and use that information in de-identified form, and not to attempt to re-identify it, except where testing our own de-identification requires it.
  • We contractually require anyone who receives it to do the same.

We never sell or share sensitive personal information. We never sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

The one case where we would

There is a single exception, and it only applies if you switch it on yourself.

If you give separate, explicit opt-in consent to the advertising and ad-targeting use described in the "Advertising and ad-targeting use of data" section of our Privacy Notice, your data is made available to advertising buyers in a form that lets them recognise you as an individual. That is a sale and a share under the CCPA, and we treat it as one.

  • It never happens unless you opt in. Silence is not consent.
  • You can withdraw at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as opting in.
  • Opting out does not affect your participation in research, your rewards, or your standing on the panel.

How to opt out

Email privacy@measureprotocol.com with "Do Not Sell" in the subject line.

Tell us enough to find you in our records. If you are an MSR app user, the email address on your account is usually enough. We use those details only to locate your records and process your request, and we will not add you to any marketing list as a result.

If you have opted in to the advertising use described above, you can also withdraw that consent directly in your account settings.

An authorised agent may act for you. If someone submits a request on your behalf, we will ask for written permission signed by you, and we may ask you to confirm the request directly.

What happens next

  • We action opt-out requests within 15 business days of receipt.
  • We will confirm when your request has been processed.
  • Where we have sold or shared your personal information in the 90 days before receiving your request, we pass the request on to those recipients and instruct them to do the same.
  • We do not need to verify your identity to action an opt-out. We may ask for enough detail to locate your records, and we will not use what you give us for any other purpose.
  • If we cannot action your request, we will tell you why.

What this does and does not stop

It stops your personal information being sold or shared, including for cross-context behavioural advertising.

It does not delete your data, close your account, or end your participation in research. Those are separate, and you can ask for any of them at any time.

It does not stop us processing your data for the purposes described in our Privacy Notice that are not a sale or a share, such as carrying out a data task you have chosen to take part in.

If you want your data deleted rather than just excluded from sale or sharing, email us at privacy@measureprotocol.com and say so.

Your other California rights

  • Know and access. Ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we disclosed it to.
  • Correct. Ask us to fix inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete. Ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. Where we process sensitive personal information, ask us to limit its use to what is necessary to provide the service. We do not use sensitive personal information for advertising, and we do not sell or share it.
  • No retaliation. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. Your rewards, eligibility for data tasks, and standing on the panel are unaffected.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@measureprotocol.com.
